10 Tips to Relieve Muscle Tension

10 Tips to Relieve Muscle TensionMuscle tension is a very common problem and it can affect people of all ages, especially adults. When we talk about muscle tension, what we mean is a feeling of tightness or pressure in a specific muscle or muscle group. While someone might only experience muscle tension, often times pain, soreness, and a restricted range of motion accompany it.

Any muscle in the body can experience this feeling of tension, but it is most common in the muscles of the back, neck, and shoulders. For many people, persistent tension in the muscles of the upper back, neck or shoulders also causes intense headaches.

Muscle tension can be caused by a number of different factors including:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Poor diet
  • Lack of exercise
  • Certain illnesses like a flu or cold

Since it is not a specific malady or injury, muscle tension can be difficult for a doctor to diagnose and treat. When you tell a doctor that your muscles feel tense, it does not really tell them that much about the problem.

Treatment for muscle tension usually requires a broad approach. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. A doctor may recommend a number of things, which may include trying various prescription drugs. You may have to try a few different things before finding what works best.

While there might not be a single approach that will work for everybody, there are things that can help. In this article, we look at some of the best natural methods to relieve muscle tension and to prevent it from occurring in the first place.

10-tips-for-better-sleep-with-arthritisPain from arthritis certainly tends to cause sleep issues, and poor sleep can make arthritis even worse. Many researchers have shown that better sleep reduces arthritis pain both during the night and during the day. The torturous cycle of bad sleep and chronic pain can be overwhelming, but taking a different approach to the way you prepare for sleep can help reduce arthritic pain and improve overall quality of life. Since arthritis causes inflammation and soreness, it can hinder your ability to relax into sleep. The key to easing these symptoms resides in a pleasurable pre-bedtime routine. Here are some fantastic ideas to help you begin your journey to adequate and restorative sleep, even while living with arthritis. It’s necessary to keep an open mind when experimenting with these methods, as old sleeping habits die-hard. You may not even notice changes in your sleeping routine at first, and it may take some practice and patience, but trying new things is better than repeating the same sleepless, pain-filled night over and over and over again.

10 Tips to Relieve Restless Leg Syndrome

Tips to Relieve Restless Leg SyndromeRestless leg syndrome is a nervous system disorder that causes uncomfortable sensations in the legs that result in the individual feeling an overwhelming need to move their legs. The sensation can vary depending on the person. There are many descriptions of the feeling including throbbing, achiness, pain, numbness, tingling sensations, or a creeping sort of feeling as though insects are moving across the skin.

For most people with RLS, the condition is at its worst in the evening time, especially when the body is at rest. Since it commonly strikes at night, many RLS sufferers also have problems with sleep. Due to its connection with sleeplessness, RLS is classified as a sleep disorder.

With most cases of restless leg syndrome, the cause is unknown. Researchers believe that there is a genetic component that makes someone susceptible to RLS. There are several risk factors that can contribute to whether a person is subject to this condition. In some cases, RLS may be a side effect of medications, and there are various lifestyle and dietary choices that may come with an increased risk of RLS. In addition to that, there are some health conditions where restless leg syndrome is a common symptom.

It is estimated that up to 10% of Americans suffer from restless leg syndrome and that about 2-3% of these cases are categorized as severe RLS. This condition can affect people of all ages, but most commonly affects middle-aged and older individuals. PLMS, or periodic limb movements in sleep, is another condition that is commonly associated with restless leg syndrome. With PLMS, the individual may experience involuntary twitching and jerking of the limbs.

Once the issue is identified as restless leg syndrome, it is usually possible to manage the symptoms and limit its effect on the life of the individual. While doctors may prescribe various medications to help treat restless leg syndrome, there are ways to find relief without medication.

7 Natural Ways to Relieve Growing Pains

7 Natural Remedies to Relieve Growing PainsChildren can be subject to all sorts of problems that will no longer affect them once they are adults. For the most part, these issues are just a part of growing up. Even if the problem is a common part of childhood, when it is going on, it can be troubling. One such problem is when a child experiences growing pains.

Since the problem is called “growing pains,” it leads many to believe that it has some connection to childhood growth. However, the term is actually a misnomer; growing pains have nothing to do with growth. While a clear cause of growing pains has yet to be established, most health experts believe that it is just soreness that comes from the everyday life of being an active child. The long days of running, jumping and climbing put stress on the body, and this manifests as soreness when the child finally takes the time to relax.

For the most part, it does seem that growing pains tend to affect children that are in certain age groups. The children that are most likely to experience growing pains are between the ages of 3-5, and later when the child is between the ages of 8-12.

Growing pains also tend to have some common symptoms. For most children, growing pains tend to occur in the evening or when they are getting ready to go to bed, and for most children, the pain is gone in the morning. The pain usually occurs in the legs, with the most common complaints being of soreness in the thighs, the back of the knees, and in the calves.

If your child has issues with growing pains, it can be a trying situation. The pain can make it hard for them to sleep at night, and you want to do whatever you can to relieve the pain and make your child more comfortable. Fortunately, there are steps that you can take to soothe the pain. In this article, we look at some of the most effective natural remedies that can help a child with growing pains.

The Man Behind the Paint: PBR Entertainer Matt Merritt

Matt Merritt: PBR EntertainerReal Time Pain Relief would like to introduce our next team member, Matt Merritt. Unlike the previously showcased team members, who dabbled in the more dangerous, adrenaline rush side of the rodeo industry, Merritt is an entertainer. Most commonly mislabeled (not without some credibility) as a Rodeo Clown. Oxford Dictionary defines the term Rodeo Clown as a person whose job is to distract the bull from the rider who has been unseated in a bull riding event, or to provide comic entertainment for an audience between events. This definition was absolutely correct in earlier years of rodeo but in the 21st century of rodeo we have separated these jobs and given them two different job titles that each one respectfully deserves. Now we have bullfighters and entertainers. A bullfighter is someone who works to keep the bull riders out of harm’s way. A rodeo entertainer’s job is to entertain the crowd during slow times in a performance, and they don’t do anything “on purpose” to interfere with the livelihood of the bull riders in any way. You might see the entertainer walking through the crowd in the grandstands picking out the best fan of the night, dancing, telling jokes, doing specialty acts with different props such as cars, fireworks, and trick animals. I’ve even seen a rodeo entertainer ride a small plane. There is no limit to what these hard working, happy-go-lucky individuals will do to get a good laugh out of people.

Now that we have a better understanding of the actual job title let’s talk further about the man behind the can, Matt Merritt.
